Osteoarthritis
Joint pain is a prevalent issue that may be caused by injury, disease or suboptimal biomechanics of the body. The most common areas of concern include the spine, pelvis, hips, shoulder, knees and ankles.
Common causes of joint pain include:
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Injury or Trauma
Bursitis
Gout
Tendonitis
Infection
Other systemic conditions may include systemic diseases, such as lupus and fibromyalgia that can contribute to joint pain and inflammation.
Our physiotherapists are highly qualified to manage joint pain with personalised treatment plans based on our assessment of biomechanical, strength/muscular imbalance and control issues and length/tightness issues around your joint. We take a comprehensive approach that may include muscle strengthening, joint stabilisation, improving range of motion, stretching and reducing pressure on joints through weight loss and optimisation of force distribution around the joint. Taping, bracing, gait aids, shoe and orthotic advice may all play a part in your management.
Many of our patients continue to experience excellent results under our GLA:D program, specifically designed to assist with Osteoarthritis knee/hip surgical intervention. Please follow the lin below for more information.
