Elbow, Wrist & Hand Pain

The elbow is a joint that is sensitive to unaccustomed changes in loads and training volumes, especially in racquet sports and golf (hence ‘tennis elbow’, and ‘golfer's elbow’), but may also be the victim in many occupations, from cooking as a chef, to operating power-tools as a tradesman. To people’s surprise, sometimes it isn’t the elbow itself that is the problem, but rather dysfunction in the neck and shoulder area that refers to pain, and stresses the elbow joint.

The wrist and hand may be the culprit of a nasty fall, accident or sports-related injury, or may tip into dysfunction from, again, work-related duties like using a mouse or keyboard.

Below are a range of conditions that we are experienced at treating in our clinic:

  • Tennis elbow

  • Golfers elbow

  • Elbow bursitis

  • Wrist-related repetitive strain injury

  • Wrist TFCC injury

  • De Quervains tenosynovitis

  • Referred pain from the neck and shoulder

  • Pregnancy-related wrist pain

Our physiotherapists will meticulously assess with palpation and special tests to provide an accurate diagnosis. Treatment may involve soft tissue therapy, dry needling, and use of a brace or splint to decrease pain and irritability of the area. Specifically targeted exercises will be prescribed to improve upper limb biomechanics and help build resilience into the area. Our physiotherapists will ensure that you achieve the best possible outcome, and are able to resume participating in the things you love, pain-free.
