Muscle aches and pains can involve more than one muscle and can also involve:
- Ligaments
- Tendons
- The joints they cross
The most common causes are:
- Injury or trauma including strains
- Overuse: using a muscle too much, too soon, too often
- Tension or stress
Not all muscle aches are related to stress, tension, and physical activity. Some other explanations include fibromyalgia, flu, lupus, medications or drug use.
